On September 24, 2009, the Irish High Court approved the reduction of share premium (similar to additional paid-in capital) to establish distributable reserves on the unconsolidated balance sheet of Accenture plc. The establishment of distributable reserves was required to enable Accenture plc to pay dividends and buy back shares in the future.
