You might not readily recognize Akzo Nobel Paints by its name, but you likely know its brands. One of the largest North American makers of paints, the unit of Akzo Nobel is best known for Glidden paints and stores. Other well-known brands include Dulux, Ralph Lauren Paints, Fuller O'Brien, and Liquid Nails caulks and adhesives. Professionals are the primary buyers of its DeVoe industrial coatings and the Ultra-Hide line of primers and paints. While just about all of its sales come from architectural and decorative paints and coatings, the division also makes coatings for packaging (cans and closures). In 2008, Akzo Nobel acquired former parent company Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI).
