Sweetbay Supermarket (formerly Kash n' Karry Food Stores) is hoping that business is sweeter under its new name. The Florida grocery chain operates more than 100 supermarkets and is struggling to increase its slim share of the grocery market in the Sunshine State. The firm is far behind market leader Publix, with its commanding a 38% share. Sweetbay stores cater to Florida's large Hispanic population with expanded produce sections (featuring exotic produce) as well as more organic foods and nutraceuticals. Kash n' Karry became is a subsidiary of Delhaize America, which is owned by Brussels-based Delhaize Group, in 1996.
