3Com got down to business. 3Com sells networking hardware and software, including LAN-level infrastructure gear (switches, routers, gateways), Internet telephony systems, network intrusion prevention systems, and wireless networking equipment for enterprises. The company also provides services ranging from technical support to high-end consulting and systems integration. 3Com sells directly and through resellers and distributors. Once active in the consumer and telecommunications carrier markets, 3Com is now focused primarily on enterprise customers. The company gets more than half of its sales in China. In 2009 Hewlett-Packard agreed to acquire 3Com for about $2.7 billion in cash.
