You might say this company has added a little Seoul to the Internet. Daum Communications is the leading operator of Korean-language Web sites, including flagship news and information portal Daum.net, Hanmail.net (Web-based e-mail), and Daum Cafe (online community). Other brands include TV Pot (online video), Media Daum (news updates), and Congnamul (online maps). Its properties boast nearly 40 million registered users. It also offers search marketing services through its Namu Communications subsidiary, and operates international sites, including US-based Web portal Lycos. (Daum acquired Lycos, a pioneering force in the US Internet build out of the dot com era, from Telefónica for $105 million in 2004.)
