Combining business and fashion sense, Brand Science has it all in the bag. The company, which does business as LeSportsac, makes nylon handbags, totes, backpacks, luggage, and related accessories. It also collaborated on collections with well-worn names in the fashion world, such as Diane von Furstenberg, Gwen Stefani, and Stella McCartney. Brand Science distributes its products through specialty and department stores (Macy's, Bloomingdales) in the US and 20 other countries. It also operates an e-commerce site, about 15 boutiques, and five factory outlets under the LeSportsac banner in the US and Mexico. Brand Science (an affiliate of Accessory Network Group) and ITOCHU together acquired LeSportsac in 2006.
