Cox Communications carries the complete collection of cable capacity. Cox provides basic cable service to more than 6 million customers, including 2.7 million digital cable subscribers and 3 million Internet access subscribers, making it the third-largest US cable company, behind Comcast and Time Warner Cable. Cox provides telecommunications services as a competitive local-exchange carrier (CLEC). In addition, the company offers voice and data communications to businesses, and has investments in TV programming and broadband technology firms. Media conglomerate Cox Enterprises controlled 63% of Cox Communications until it bought out the rest of the company for $8.5 billion and took it private.
