Institutional Venture Partners (IVP) has been making Silicon Valley verdant with cash for nearly three decades. The company, which closed its eleventh fund in 2007, has more than $2.2 billion of committed capital; it has owned stakes in more than 300 companies, more than 80 of which have gone public. IVP targets later-stage firms in the communications, wireless applications, Internet, and digital media industries. Portfolio companies include Dust Networks and Motion Computing. Venture capital industry pioneer Reid Dennis founded IVP in 1980.
