Mayfield Fund has a sense of a venture. Since its inception, the Silicon Valley venture capital firm has invested in almost 500 companies and has taken more than 100 of them public. The company is an active investor, targeting early-stage technology businesses focused on enterprise software, consumer services, communications, cleantech, and semiconductors. It has more than $2.4 billion under management. Mayfield Fund, which is owned by its partners, got its start in 1969 through the efforts of its late founding partner Tommy Davis, dubbed "the dean of venture capitalists."
