The venture capital firm, which was founded in 1976, provides long-term capital and management services primarily to development-stage technology companies in such areas as communications, semiconductors, enterprise software, security, and mobile and Internet services. It has a focus on US companies and typically offers between $5 million and $30 million per transaction. Portfolio companies include Broncus Technologies, Bluesocket, 3Par , and nCircle Network Security. An active investor, Menlo has stakes in more than 80 companies and has some $4 billion under management.
