Aradigm helps the medicine go down for people who swoon at the sight of a needle. Aradigm develops orally-inhaled drug delivery systems that treat respiratory diseases. Its lead delivery technology, AERx (an aerosol created from liquid drug formulations), is being adapted to deliver a variety of drugs to treat pulmonary diseases. Aradigm has focused its efforts on developing respiratory treatments for cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, inhaled anthrax, smoking cessation, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and asthma. Aradigm typically elects to reformulate already-approved drugs (such as ciprofloxacin) and combine them with its inhalation delivery technologies in order to speed up the regulatory process.
