When the manufacturer's fanciest option package isn't enough, there's Southern Comfort Conversions. The company customizes the interiors and exteriors of SUVs, trucks, and vans, and sells a mix of automotive accessories. Contracting with manufacturers, Southern Comfort gives a face lift to Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, GMC, Nissan, and Hummer models, which are then sold on dealers' lots. The company's Ultimate Mobility unit modifies vans for handicap use. Another subsidiary, Ultimate Plastics, makes parts used by Southern Comfort and by makers of boats, RVs, and other equipment. Although president and CEO Rod McSweeney founded and leads Southern Comfort, the company is owned by private equity group ComVest.
