Its name is almost as broad as its footprint. Bell Aliant Regional Communications Income Fund is one of North America's largest regional telecommunications services providers. Through its subsidiaries, the company provides integrated communications and information services including wireline and wireless phone, Internet access, and enterprise data. It also offers information technology (IT) services to businesses through its Xwave division. Bell Aliant has more than 3 million local residential and business access lines in service and about 700,000 broadband Internet subscribers in six Canadian provinces. BCE, Canada's #1 telecom provider, is Aliant's controlling stockholder through a 44% stake in the company.
