Dragados has been dredging up heavy construction business as the leading subsidiary of Spanish contracting giant ACS. One of the largest general contractors in the country, the company has expertise in heavy construction, notably in infrastructure projects such as highways, airports, and marine works (it has done significant work on Spain's infrastructure projects) as well as in commercial construction such as hospitals, sports and cultural venues, and more. Dragados also has an international presence, with contracts in Europe, the Middle East, Mexico, and the US. Former rival ACS acquired Dragados in 2003, creating Spain's largest construction group.
